SKIN STEM CELLS

The skin constantly changes its cells, which is called self-renewal, replacing them with new cells obtained from the division of the stem cells situated in the stratum basale.

We could say that the skin is the largest deposit of these cells in the whole body, an inexhaustible and self-renewing reserve of new cells that nature has given us, that can be used at any age, on which depend the integrity, regeneration and repair of the skin tissues.

With age the stem cells that give rise to cell renewal "become dormant" in a kind of catalepsy since they are not suitably stimulated to generate new cells.

However, even though they are "dormant", their regeneration potential remains unchanged.

But how can these "dormant" cells be reactivated?

The correct path was taken, initially, for curing the skin in individuals who were burn victims in order to try and speed up recovery by acting on the stem cells, already present inside the skin, through particular messages that would succeed in reactivating them.

That is to say, signals capable of reawakening these “dormant” cells by inducing them to reate new tissue cells, in order to re-establish the integrity of the skin structure.
